Two absconders held in Nagrota, produced before court

JAMMU, Aug 11: Jammu and Kashmir Police today arrested two absconders wanted in separate criminal cases and produced them before their respective courts in Nagrota. A police official said the accused had been evading arrest for years despite warrants issued under Section 512 CrPC. He said Fazal Hussain, a resident of Maheen Thathar, Sidhra, was wanted in an attempt to murder case registered in 2019 under sections 307, 353, 34 RPC and the Arms Act.
He said the second accused, Sumit Ram of Jath Gali Rajgarh in Ramban district, was facing charges under sections 188 IPC and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act in a case registered in 2022. Acting on a tip-off, the police official said, a team from Police Station Nagrota executed the warrants and took both men into custody. He claimed the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to track down absconders and strengthen law and order in the region.
