Sources told the Excelsior that a new modus operandi is being used by the terrorists in which one terror operative doesn’t know the other. This is being done to ensure that even one of the operatives is arrested by security forces, entire chain is not busted and other terrorists or their handlers are not nabbed by the cops.
Last night, Nagrota police arrested a terror operative identified as Azan Hameed Gazi son of Abdul Hameed Gazi, a resident of Hilalabad, Qamarwari in Srinagar at the TCP Naka on Bypass Nagrota. He was travelling from Jammu to Srinagar in a Toyoto Etios car bearing Regd No. HR38Z 2066.

At the time of arrest, police recovered three pistols, three empty magazines, eight live cartridges and two empty cartridges from a handbag which he had concealed under the co-driver’s seat.
Of three pistols, one was Turkish and another Chinese. The third one had no markings but all three pistols were highly sophisticated.
“Gazi picked up consignment of pistols from near ASCOMS Hospital Sidhra but didn’t know how it reached here,” the sources said, adding this is new strategy of the terrorists under which one terror operative has no knowledge of the other. It, however, is being suspected by police that the consignment came from the border and was kept inside forested area.
Gazi was tasked to pick up the consignment by a handler from Kashmir. Again, Gazi didn’t know name of the handler. Also, he never met him but was working at his behest for the sake of money as he had become a drug-addict and needed money to buy narcotics.
“Prior to this, Gazi transported consignment of cash from Kashmir and dropped it at a place near General Bus Stand, Jammu. This time also, he wasn’t aware who gave him the consignment as he picked it up from a secured place and was not knowing who will collect it from Bus Stand where he kept it, ” the sources said.
This new strategy of the terrorists has come to light on few earlier occasions also where the terror operatives didn’t know the terrorists for whom they are working. This is being done to ensure that the cops don’t reach to the terrorists even if one or two operatives fall into the police net. Terror operative Ghazi had to drop the consignment of pistol at Chanpora from where it was to be picked up by another operative before being handed over to the terrorists.
“A major terror plot to execute selective killings has been foiled by police with recovery of three sophisticated pistols and arrest of the terror operative,” the sources said, adding further investigations are on to ascertain when and from where the consignment was shifted to forested area of Sidhra and to who picked up the cash kept by Ghazi at Bus Stand earlier.
A case has been registered at Nagrota police station for further investigations.
