Turkey may call Snap presidential election in Nov 2027 – Senior AKP Official

ISTANBUL, Mar 2: Turkey may hold an early presidential election in November 2027, with incumbent Recep Tayyip Erdogan running for reelection, Huseyin Yayman, vice president of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), said on Sunday.
“God willing, we will once again nominate our president as a candidate in the next presidential election in November 2027 and the Republican Alliance flag will once again fly in the skies of Turkey,” Yayman was quoted as saying at a party meeting by the TGRT channel.
Yayman echoed the words of Erdogan’s associate, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party, who said that there was no need for a different presidential candidate “as long as there is such a world leader.”
“We pray, work and serve our nation day and night. In the next election, God willing, we will make our president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the head of state again, and together we will solve all of Turkey’s problems,” Yayman added.
Erdogan previously said that an early election was not on his party’s agenda. The next presidential election is not due until spring of 2028.
