JAMMU, June 13: Bagh-e-Bahu Police arrested a trucker along with 175 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station laid a naka and signaled a truck bearing Registration Number PB65AS-6457 to stop for checking.
On seeing the Police, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops intercepted the truck after a brief chase.
During checking, police team recovered 175 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the trucker, who was identified as Lab Singh, son of Gurmeet Singh of Bamni Gurdaspur, Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 53/2020 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Bagh-e-Bahu Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Bagh-e-Bahu Inspector Sunil Sharma made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO East Bikram Kumar, SP South Deepak Digra and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
