RAMBAN, June 23: Police arrested a trucker along with 22 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Ramban police station laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB11AM-4152 coming from Srinagar to Jammu.
During checking, police recovered 22 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Mohammad Akhter, son of Ghulam Rasool Malik, a resident of district Ramban.
A case under FIR Number 79/17 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against the trucker at Ramban police station and investigation started to ascertain the source of the consignment.
Police team led by SHO Ramban Inspector Rajeshwar Singh made the arrest under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Imtiyaz Ahmed and SSP Ramban Mohan Lal.
