RAJOURI, Aug 21: A truck loaded with food grains rolled down into Manawar Tawi river in Nowshera area of district Rajouri during morning hours today.
Official sources said that on getting the information, troops of the Indian Army, swung into action and conducted a swift rescue operation to retrieve the truck submerged in the river water.
Soldiers of the Rashtriya Rifles at Nowshera, along with local Police and CRPF personnel, carried out the operation using recovery vehicles to save the people on board.
SHO Nowshera Inspector Manpreet Singh told that rescue operation was going on and driver Baljeet Singh alias Sonu, son of Surjeet Singh from Punjab was driving truck bearing registration no PB06Q- 7165 is still missing. The team of Rashtriya Rifle, CRPF, Police and SDRF was conducting search operation to find out the driver who is missing, he added.
