JAMMU, May 8: A team of Forest officials seized a truck loaded with Khairwood in Samba Forest Division today.
Official sources said that a team of Forest officials of Samba Forest Range lead by Range Officer Samba Mohammad Saleem Malik, Block Forest Officer Goran Sourab Chandel, on specific inputs seized one vehicle (Mini truck) bearing registration No. JK21K-1185 loaded with 70 Khairwood billets and one cutter from Forest Comptt. 61/B of Jar-Jarely Forest beat of Goran Forest Block.
The driver of the vehicle alongwith accused fled away leaving the vehicle on the spot. During the inspection, it was found that the damage in question caused during the intervening night hours of May 7 & 8. Damage case has been registered in the Forest Range office Samba and detailed investigation initiated for tracing out the offenders involved in the instant damage.
After completing all necessary legal formalities the seized vehicle alongwith Khairwood billets and cutter brought to the office for initiation of confiscation proceedings under the provision of relevant sections of Indian Forest Act, 1927. The operation was carried out under the close supervision of Sagar Singh, DFO Samba.
