JAMMU, Sept 11: The residents of Trikuta Nagar Colony here today staged a protest demonstration against the higher authorities in PHE demanding a new tube well in their locality.
The protest was led by Rajinder P. Kakkar, president Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society (TNWS).
Addressing the protesters Kakkar said that three years back the tube-well was sanctioned by the then Additional Secretary Incharge Jal Jeevan Mission.
“The residents of Trikuta Nagar Colony face shortage of drinking water supply every year. Now for the last six days Sectors 8 and 9 in Ward 54 are facing acute shortage of drinking water,” the TNWS leader claimed.
The protesters also demanded that all the existing tube wells should be interconnected and after overhauling of the present machinery, one spare pumping motor should be kept reserved so that the general public should not suffer for days together on the pretext of motor repair.
They also demanded that the authorities in PHE should fix schedule for water supply and should ensure water supply for one hour in morning and one hour in the evening.
Prominent among those present in the protest were Neeraj Puri, Ajay Kumar Gupta, ex-JMC Councillors, Vijay Gupta, Rohit Mahajan, Vishvamitr Gupta, Advocate Harshvardhan Gupta and Purshottam Gupta.
