JAMMU, Oct 17: Rich tributes were paid to Late Didi Nirmala Deshpande on her 83rd birth anniversary at a function organized at Lawrence Public School, Panjtirthi in collaboration with Gandhi Global Family.
Joint Director Information, Jammu, Soujanya Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion, where as Wg Cdr M.M Joshi (Chairman, Lawrence Public School) presided over the function.
The chief guest along with the school children and other guests offered floral tributes to Didi Nirmala Deshpande.
While speaking on the occasion, Soujanya said that Didi Nirmalaji strived hard to create a new value system for establishing a good society. She had been conferred with the India’s second highest civilian honour Padma Vibhushan award. She worked for brotherhood & peace in South Asian countries & dedicated her life to promote Gandhian philosophy throughout the world, he added.
Joshi, while remembering Didi Nirmala Deshpande, said that she was a woman of action.
Vice President, Gandhi Global family Shakuntla Joshi said Didi Nirmala Deshpande had gone beyond our frontiers to spread Sadbhavna and had been involved in organizing many meets and conferences to establish people to people contact between India and Pakistan.
