Srinagar, July 12: A wreath laying ceremony was solemnised by Chinar Corps at Badami Bagh here to pay tributes to the martyred soldier, Sep Govind Singh of 31 Rashtriya Rifles.
He laid down his life on July 10, 2013 while fighting bravely with the terrorists. Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks laid wreath as a mark of honour to the brave soldier.
On specific inputs about presence of 3-4 militants in Lolab forest area, Army troops of 31 Rashtriya Rifles carried out search operation. During search operation, the Army troops came under heavy fire from the hiding militants which resulted in heavy fire fight. Sep Govind Singh was critically injured and shifted to 92 Base Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Chinar Corps is proud of the martyr and his name will be embedded at the Chinar Corps Memorial. His contribution towards peace in the Valley will become part of the history. My heart goes out to the families and relatives of the martyr. Chinar Corps salutes him and his martyrdom will only strengthened our resolve to ensure permanent peace in Kashmir, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh said.
