RS Pura, Jan 24: Senior PDP leader Narinder Sharma accompanied by Karan Singh, Sukhvinder Singh, KK Sharma,Vicky Dogra, Sunil Sharma and Tarlok Chand today paid rich floral tribute to PDP MLC Yashpal Sharma on his third death anniversary at Kotli Shah Doula in RS Pura Jammu South constituency. On this occasion, a grand Langar was organized in loving memory of Late Yashpal Sharma.
Narinder paying his tribute remembered Sharma as a towering personality, great mobilizer, and a loyal and experienced leader besides highlighting his contributions to the people, the party, and social causes.Yashpal Sharma was known for his simplicity, honesty and humility, earning him the respect of people from all faiths, shades, and ideologies. He was often referred to as ‘Sher-e-Poonch’ (Lion of Poonch) for his fearless voice and leadership in the border belt of Rajouri-Poonch, he said.
Sharma’s legacy continues to inspire, with demands to rename the Poonch Sports Stadium after him as a tribute to his contributions. His death is still remembered as a great loss to Jammu and Kashmir and his life’s work remains a testament to his dedication to the people and the region, added Sharma.
Sharma, while paying his respects to the veteran leader, described Yashpal Sharma as “a voice of the people.” “Sharma was recognized as one of the few individuals with rare knowledge about every aspect of Jammu and Kashmir’s history, dating back to before 1947. He dedicated his entire life to promoting peace, goodwill, and communal harmony in society,” he said.
