Tribute paid to Lala Shiv Charan Gupta on his 100th birth anniversary

UDHAMPUR, Mar 2: The 100th birth anniversary of Sher-e-Duggar Lala Shiv Charan Gupta, former BJP MLA, was commemorated with a solemn ceremony, here today.
The event, which also served as a Shrandhanjali (tribute) for Devender Singh Rana, was organized by the Lala Shiv Charan Gupta Yaadgaar Samiti and hosted by Pawan Kumar Gupta, MLA Udhampur West, along with Dr Jogeshwar Gupta, former President of the Municipal Council Udhampur.
A large number of dedicated party workers participated in the event, which saw the presence of senior BJP leaders, including BJP State General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, MLA Udhampur East R S Pathania, MLA Ramnagar Sunil Bhardwaj, MLA Katra, Baldev Raj Sharma, DDC Chairman Lal Chand, BJP District President Arun Gupta, and Devyani Rana, BJP Vice President Yuva Morcha (BJYM) and President of the Lala Shiv Charan Gupta Yaadgaar Samiti.
Also in attendance were Shyam Saroop Kalsotra, several DDC members, BDC Chairperson, numerous Sarpanche/Panches, and other BJP office bearers.
Pawan Gupta, son of Lala Shiv Charan Gupta, fondly reflected on his father’s lifelong commitment to public service, highlighting his four-term tenure in the State Assembly and his significant contributions to both social and political spheres.
Ashok Koul and other speakers reminisced about Lala Shiv Charan Gupta’s invaluable contributions to the people of Udhampur. They emphasized his role as a founding member of the Praja Parishad Party and his unwavering determination, even in the face of imprisonment and threats during the Praja Parishad agitation.
The event also paid heartfelt tribute to Devender Rana, recognizing his immense contributions to society and his relentless commitment to serving people from all walks of life. He was remembered as a true grassroots leader, always accessible to the public and deeply connected to their concerns. Speakers noted that his demise has left an irreplaceable void, as he was among the strongest voices advocating for the Jammu region.
Pawan Gupta fondly remembered his dear friend, Devender Rana, as an ‘Iron Man’-a highly learned and intelligent leader whose strategic vision and political expertise played a key role in BJP’s victory in 29 Assembly seats in last year’s elections.
