Trial landing of chopper conducted in Poonch, Rajouri

JAMMU, Sept 9: A helicopter of Pawan Hans, Government owned aircraft company conducted the trial landing and take off of the helicopter at Poonch and Rajouri today.
Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary said that trial landing which was scheduled to be conducted on September 8, was conducted today by the Pawan Hans Company at Rajouri and Poonch. He said it remained successful.
Dr Shahid said at Rajouri, the chopper landed at Sports Stadium but the service is likely to be started on Wednesday and not Monday as declared earlier due to the visit of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to Nowshera on Monday. He said in Poonch also the trial landing remained successful but they have decided DPL as safer site for the air operation. He said the booking of the tickets will start from tomorrow at DC offices at both the places and in Jammu, Deputy Director Tourism will issue the same from his office at TRC, Residency Road.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Tariq Ahmed Zargar has said the that helicopter service will operate from DPL Poonch and not Sports stadium. He said the chopper will operate twice a week on Monday and Saturday and the increase in sorties and days would depend on the kind of response from the people. However, he said in case of emergency, the service can be availed or booked on paying thirty two thousand for either side. He further said that the chopper service is being operated by Pawan Hans Pvt Limited.
He said SSP shall make the adequate security arrangements at the site, while Tehsildar Haveli shall look after booking/reservation of tickets. The passengers who want to travel from Jammu to Poonch can also book their ticket from Tourist Reception Center, Jammu, he said.
The DC said the company has demanded Rs one lakh for 5 seat chopper as fare for one hour out of which 80 percent would be borne by the Government as subsidy and only  Rs 4000  have to be paid by passengers from Poonch to Jammu or vice versa. He further informed that heavy languages are not allowed and each passenger can carry only less than 3kg of bag/handbag.
