Treat Jammu like Kashmir: Pawan to CM

Excelsior Correspondent

UDHAMPUR, Sept 26: Senior political leader, Pawan Khajuria while criticising the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah stated that his concerns seem to be limited only to Kashmir, while the suffering of the Dogras apparently holds no significance for him.
Referring to the recent heavy rainfall and landslides in the Mahore region of Reasi, Khajuria said that hundreds of families have been rendered homeless, thousands of kanals of land have been destroyed in the landslides, livestock is missing, and people are being forced to live in tents without basic facilities.
Taking a jibe, he said that the Chief Minister is only concerned about ensuring that truck loaded with apples coming from Kashmir do not get stuck in traffic, but shows no concern for the disaster-stricken lives in Jammu.
Pawan Khajuria expressed displeasure over the Chief Minister’s proposal to allot five marlas of land to the affected farmers, saying that offering just five marlas to those who have lost hundreds of kanals is nothing short of a joke.
He added that the farmers of Jammu are taxpayers, hardworking, and capable – as long as their land is intact, they are self-reliant and do not need anyone’s charity.
Khajuria also expressed anger over the condition of the tents distributed by the administration, highlighting that the people there lack electricity, food, water, and toilets, causing immense hardship to them. He further pointed out that even small children are at risk from wild animals.
Khajuria appealed to Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah to view both regions, Jammu and Kashmir, with equal concern and allocate sufficient land to the affected farmers so they can rebuild their lives and regain self-sufficiency.
