JAMMU, Nov 3: Mini Bus Workers Union, Jammu Province and Kashmir Mini Bus Federation have voiced their resentment against  the issuance of a Government Notification directing transporters to pay passenger welfare fund.
A joint meeting of the Union and Federation was held here today under the presidium of   Anil Chopra and Mukhtiar Ahmed, chairmen of the respective bodies, for discussion over the issue.
Both the leaders criticized the notification number TE-821-43/13/10/16, in which the Government has directed the transporters to pay passenger welfare fund. We are already paying passenger welfare fund at the time of seeking registration besides paying passenger tax and other taxes, they explained.
The meet also said that the transporters were the worst affected due to prevailing unrest in Kashmir valley and condition on the border.  “This has given a serious set back to economy of the transporters,” the meet said and appealed Chief Minister as well as Transport Authority of Jammu and Kashmir to withdraw the impugned order.
Those who attended the meeting, included Jagtar Singh Chib, Vijay Singh Chib, Naresh Kumar, Abdul Qayoom Wani, Feroz Ahmad, Abdul Majid, Bharat Bhushan, Raj Kumar Choudhary, Vimal Sharma, Suman Singh, Om Parkash, Pupinder Singh and others.
