Transport Commissioner reviews progress on I&CC Samba; MVD cracks down on PCCs

JAMMU, Dec 13: Transport Commissioner J&K Vishesh Mahajan today visited Inspection and Certification Centre (I&CC), Samba to take stock of the progress of installation of Hitech machinery in the Centre whereas Motor Vehicles Department today launched a special drive for inspection of Pollution Checking Centres (PCCs) operating in Jammu district.
On his visit to I&CC Samba, the Transport Commissioner was informed by the concerned executing agency that all the pending civil & allied work for installation of machinery/equipment will be completed by the end of February 2025 and the machinery which is in transit from Germany is likely to arrive at site in a couple of days.
RTO Jammu Pankaj Bhagotra, who accompanied the Transport Commissioner, informed that operationalization of I&CC will play a very crucial role in issuance of Fitness Certificates to the vehicles after being inspected through these specially designed machines.
Transport Commissioner stressed the executing agencies to complete the remaining work specially construction of ramps at an earliest so that the center can be made operational before the deadline fixed by the higher authorities.
Vinay Samotra, Joint Transport Commissioner; Jugal Kishor Pandoh (Deputy Director, P&S), Accounts Officer TC Office, ARTO Samba, MVIs besides representatives from PWD & Electrical Divisions also accompanied the Transport Commissioner.
Later, the Transport Commissioner held detailed discussions with DC Samba regarding measures required for improvement of enforcement activities and strengthening of the last mile connectivity in the district.
Meanwhile, different teams of MVD under the directions of RTO Jammu launched conducted random inspection of Pollution Checking Centres in Miran Sahib, Satwari, Bakshi Nagar, Warehouse and Akhnoor road. During the inspection some discrepancies were noticed by the officials and notices were issued to concerned operators for rectification of discrepancies.
Earlier the MVD team also inspected the Taxi Aggregators authorized in Jammu division. The team comprised of Rehana Tabassam, ARTO (Hqr), Vikas Srivats & Jagandeep Singh (MVIs) and Tarunjot Singh, MVTA.
