Reasi, Nov 19: Transport Commissioner J&K Vishesh Paul Mahajan today conducted an extensive tour of Reasi to review the land identified for the establishment of a Driving Licence (DL) Trial Ground and Vehicle Fitness Facility, as well as to assess the condition of road connectivity in the district.He was accompanied by ARTO Reasi Nasir Ahmed,Tehsildar Reasi, MVD officials and other concerned officers.
During the visit, the Commissioner inspected the proposed land approximately 10 to 15 Kanal land earmarked for the new facility. He reviewed all infrastructural and procedural requirements and directed the officers to complete the process and documentation for registering the land in the name of the Transport Department at the earliest. He stressed that timely completion of these formalities will allow the department to initiate further work without delay.
During the visit, Transport Commissioner also inspected several damaged road patches posing risks to commuters. He assured that the matter would be taken up with the Road Safety Council and the Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, so that restoration and repair works can be fast-tracked for the safety of vehicles and passengers.
In line with strengthening enforcement measures, the Transport Commissioner also issued directions for a strict enforcement drive. Acting upon these directions, an enforcement campaign was carried out at Serli Katra by the ARTO Reasi along with MVD Staff.
During the enforcement activity, over 89 vehicles were thoroughly checked for violations under the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules. As a result, 15 vehicles were e-challaned, 5 vehicles were seized, and a total fine of Rs 58,000 was imposed on violators.
The Transport Commissioner reiterated that such drives will continue to ensure safer roads, disciplined driving, and strict compliance with transport regulations across the district.
