Training programme for farmers organized by Patanjali Research concludes

JAMMU, Mar 13: A two-day training programme for farmers on the topic “Regional Training for Development of Agricultural Entrepreneurship in Cultivation of Medicinal Plants” was concluded today.
The programme was organized by Patanjali Research Foundation in collaboration with and Patanjali University.
The conference was attended by farmers and agricultural experts of national and regional level, who succeeded in presenting the ancient Sanjeevani of Uttarakhand on the global stage.
Dr Kunal Bhattacharya, Dr Arun Chandan, Meenakshi, Shweta, Dr Jitendra Singh Butola were present as chief guests and speakers in the program.
In the program, Yogrishi Swami Ramdev said that agricultural entrepreneurship is an approach to farming that considers the interrelationships of social, economic and environmental processes as important. Modern agricultural enterprises produce for domestic and international markets, while small and medium-sized farms produce for local and domestic markets, and small farmers produce for their personal consumption. Unprecedented progress has been seen in the cultivation of medicinal plants and promotion of agricultural entrepreneurship.
Dr Kunal Bhattacharya, Principal Scientist, Drug Discovery and Development Division, Patanjali Research Foundation, Haridwar, while over viewing the research and development activities, explained in detail the contribution of Patanjali by linking agripreneurship with it.
The keynote speaker, Dr Arun Chandan, Regional Director, National Medicinal Plants Board, Ministry of AYUSH, gave information about the use of medicinal herbs in traditional medicine systems from ancient times to today, due to which they remain safe from fungi, insects and diseases.
Dr Jitendra Singh Butola of the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, HNB Garhwal University, Srinagar said that medicinal plants require less chemical fertilizers and pesticides, which keeps their cost low.
At the end of the program, Vice Chancellor of Patanjali University, Prof Mayank Kumar Agarwal praised the program and asked the visitors to make it a success by participating in the farmer training program and make India a ‘Vishwaguru’ at the global level.
More than 100 farmers at the national level received solutions for Green Revolution, Annadata App, Earth Doctor and special nutrition related problems for better growth and yield.
The program was conducted by Dr Deepika Shrivastava.
