UDHAMPUR, Feb 15: The five-day training program on “Women’s Safety” for police investigators, organized by the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), New Delhi, concluded today at the Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) here.
A statement said that the training, which began on February 10, 2025, was attended by 23 police officers of varying ranks, ranging from Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) to Inspector, including three female officers.
The program aimed to improve investigative skills and familiarize the officers with the latest legal provisions, especially those under the Information Technology (IT) Act, it said.
The sessions were led by experts, including Dr Kavita Suri from the University of Jammu, Dr Vikas Vaibhav from AIIMS Jammu, Riaz Ahmed, Senior Prosecuting Officer at SKPA, Supriya Chouhan, Advocate at the High Court of Jammu, Meena Kumari from the One Stop Centre, Udhampur, and senior police officers from SKPA.
The closing ceremony was attended by Rajinder Kumar Gupta, SSP SKPA, as the Chief Guest.
In his speech, Gupta stressed the importance of sensitivity and professionalism in handling women-related cases, urging investigators to follow established guidelines and adopt a victim-centric approach.
The program was coordinated by Inspector Vikas Manhas, with ASI Zareena Malik assisting in its execution.
