Sir,
It has often been observed that students indulge in various kinds of unusual activities while the teaching learning interaction is in progress. Some are seen napping, some are seen beating the bench like a tabla. Even some students are seen drawing cartoons. The teachers often get irritated at the sight of this unusual behaviour, and start thrashing them.
Experiences have shown that what one construes as the sign of indiscipline later on manifests itself in the form of a talent in the future life of the child.
So, there is a need of utmost restraint on the part of a teacher to show while dealing with the students. The teacher should have a thorough knowledge of the psychological instincts of the child and deal with the child in accordance with these instincts. The teacher should not resort to any corporal punishment as it makes the personality of the child depressive and adversely affects his overall development.
Govt. has to play a positive role by constituting a committee of experts like educational psychologists and then a policy should be framed under which teachers at all levels should undergo training programmes. These steps will go a long way in helping the teacher to handle the class efficiently.
Yours etc….
