Traffic resumed on Mughal road

POONCH, Dec 15: Historical Mughal road was thrown open for vehicular movement today after three days of closure due to snowfall at Pir ki Gali and a long stretch of this road both on Poonch and Shopian sides.
Official sources said that the road was closed after fresh snowfall on the evening of Wednesday. The road clearance work was later started on the next day from Poonch side but there was snowfall on Thursday in Shopian and on the parts of Mughal road as well. The road clearance work from both sides was later started on Friday which was completed on Saturday and the salt was poured on it to minimize the slippery condition.
SDM Surankote, Farooq Khan Nazki and Junior Engineer PWD department, Tahir Abdullah said that after completing the work, authorities have today orders for the opening of Mughal road for traffic, easing the problem of commuters. They requested all the people to travel safely as there always remain chance of snowfall, landslide or shooting stones during this period of weather on this route.
