Traffic lights defunct in Srinagar

Traffic system in the State, particularly in the twin city capitals has assumed messy proportions. So far as the summer capital Srinagar is concerned, streamlining traffic is seen nowhere in the sense it warrants. Most of the traffic signals on vital junctions are lying defunct and inoperative turning the regulation of traffic into a confused and difficult position. These signals were installed with high expectations to result in better management of traffic growing at alarming levels . However, most of them have got stuck at “yellow” colour indicating caution or “self service” which is interestingly astonishing.
Areas like Dalgate, Qamarwari, Batmaloo, Fire and Emergency Department crossing, Jahangir Chowk, Nowgam, Karan Nagar in the city etc are not working at all . People are sore about their non performing and want to have them repaired and made operational since looking to the volume of traffic , manual regulation being  an uphill task.
There must have been some agency arrangements made while these signals were installed and the agency or the Company must be under obligation to rectify the faulted signals provided the same was brought into their notice promptly by the traffic authorities. Perhaps, it is either of the two or both responsible for the mess. In an era of assured satisfactory post sale services, there should have been no such eventuality but since most of these signals are on  the hook presently, these should be got serviced and put on the functional mode at an early date in the interests of the commuters as well as those driving or travelling by vehicles.
