UDHAMPUR, Mar 7: Normal life was disrupted on the Chenani Road today after a massive traffic jam brought vehicular movement to a standstill for several hours, triggering resentment among the public.
The traffic chaos was witnessed near the Chenani bus stand on the National Highway where congestion has become a daily problem.
The situation worsened due to encroachments by shopkeepers and vehicles parked haphazardly by customers along the busy Chenani market road.
Local residents blamed the administration for failing to regulate traffic and remove encroachments in the area.
They alleged that shopkeepers often display their goods on the roadside while customers park vehicles on the road while shopping, leading to frequent traffic congestion.
Locals said the issue has been raised with authorities several times, but the measures taken are implemented only for a few days before the situation returns to the same state.
They also said ambulances carrying serious patients to the Community Health Centre Chenani face difficulties due to the traffic jams and warned that any major mishap could occur if the problem is not addressed immediately.
