Traffic defaulters booked

LEH, July, 20: Traffic Police Leh under the supervision of Traffic In-charge Inspector Phuntsog Wangdus set up special Nakas near Chetah Chowk to book the traffic violators, here.
During the special drive, a good number of defaulters were issued compound and court challans for violating traffic rules.
Traffic incharge inspector P. Wangdus said that major traffic problem arises due to lack of proper parking space in the cities causing traffic jams at various places, adding that during the tourist season number of tourists come with their own vehicles adding to the woes of local traffic menace.
He said if Administration installs CCTV at Leh Gate, Skalzangling, Petrol pump and traffic lights at certain places, it will definitely reduce the problems in the cities.
He informed that nearly twenty thousand vehicles including non-State vehicles are plying on the road causing huge problems to traffic management, adding that there are only six traffic personnel including two officers to manage increasing traffic in the cities.
He appealed to the vehicles owners to have proper documentation and Insurance before coming to the road. He also said that the commercial vehicles drivers must have valid passenger service vehicles (PSV) driving licence.
