Srinagar, Nov 30: Hundreds of traders as well as locals in Pattan town of Baramulla District today came out on Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway and protested against the non-seriousness of Director Health Department for not transferring Block Medical Officer (BMO) Pattan despite several complaints.
The protesters alleged that the BMO Pattan, Dr Masrat Iqbal has destroyed the health institutions of Pattan town as he is the most Junior Medical Officer and he cannot be appointed on the said post.
“He is the most junior Medical Officer, how can the Government post him as BMO. He has lost his overall administration upon the hospitals and the situation in Pattan Hospitals is very critical,” they alleged
A protester who wished not to be named alleged that despite the BMO being attached by the Government with the Health Department because of a pending enquiry, he was still appointed as BMO Pattan.
“There were various complaints against the BMO when he was Deputy CMO Bandipora and Government attached him with the Director Health Services Kashmir. But the enquiry was still going on and he was appointed as BMO Pattan,” he alleged.
The protesters while demanding his immediate removal said that Government should initiate an enquiry on the issue as hundreds of most senior competent Doctor’s have been neglected.
They threatened that if their demand is not fulfilled; they will continue the protest tomorrow and will go for hunger strike.
