Srinagar, Dec 6: Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, today said that if townships are being established, they would obviously be for the people of Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters after the provincial meeting of the party, the Advisor, while acknowledging the “lack” of details on the matter, stated that there is a shortage of housing for the people of Kashmir.
“There are no full details yet; you make guesses in every matter. But if townships are to be made, they will be for the people of Kashmir,” he said.
Responding to questions raised by PDP regarding the townships, Nasir said, “They were talking about taking Srinagar city to Parihaspora. What did they do during their time? They do not remember that. We are suffering because of them.”
The remarks come amid public apprehension and allegations from the PDP that the projects aim to alter Kashmir’s demographic composition.
Responding to these accusations, Wani strongly dismissed any notion of demographic shifts, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to the welfare of the local population.
NC Chief Spokesman and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq said that the party would release a formal response to address the PDP’s objections.
“Every decision we make will always be for the betterment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Sadiq said, urging the public to avoid going with the “controversy.”
