Tourist killed, 3 injured as boulder falls on vehicle

RAMBAN, May 5: A tourist from Maharashtra was killed and three others injured when a boulder hit their vehicle along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The vehicle, carrying a group of 12 tourists, was on way to Jammu from Kashmir valley and the incident occurred between Magarkote and Ramsoo around 0430 hours.
In the incident, Sunil Vishnupanth Kathe (43), son of Vishnupanth Kathe of Maharashtra, his wife Manisha (39), Vilas Anand Kumar (43), son of Anand Kumar and Mayuri Kumber (17), daughter of Kailash Kumar were injured when the boulder from the hillock fell on their vehicle while they were crossing a landslide-prone area.
The injured were immediately evacuated to PHC Ramsoo where Kathe was declared brought dead. His body has been handed over to his family for last rites after completion of legal formalities.
The condition of rest of the injured was stated to be stable and they were discharged after first aid.
Ramsoo Police has taken cognizance in this regards.
