JAMMU, Jan 22: Underscoring the need for creation of modern tourist facilities at all destinations of the State, the Minister for Tourism, Gh. Ahmed Mir has stressed upon the authorities of Tourism Department to ensure time bound completion of ongoing tourism infrastructure for convenience of visiting tourists. He said that the tourism industry is supposed to be one of the most flourishing industries in the State and is very important for the development of all the three regions of the State.
Interacting with the some legislators, representatives of tour and travel operators and officers of Tourism Department, who met the Minister to apprise him about their demands the Minister asserted that Government would take all possible steps to give new look to the tourism of the State.
He said that his priority would remain to promote varied tourism potential of all the regions of the State. He said though the Government has taken so many initiatives to create new attraction for the visiting tourists, besides up gradation of infrastructure and developing new spots but yet there is need to give more attention towards this sector to improve the economy .
Mr. Mir said exploring fully pilgrim, adventure, and heritage besides leisure tourism would receive focused attention of State Tourism Ministry, adding that conservation of heritage places which depicts our rich culture would also pay the focused attention as was given by the Government during last four years.
The Tourism Minister said that conservation and restoration of Mubarak Mandi heritage palace would be ensured in time bound manner. He said to attract pilgrim tourists towards Jammu city the Mubarak Mandi cable car project would be the another attraction after Sidra golf course. He said that all the steps taken by the Government for developing tourism industry would be completed with the close cooperation of tourism players and by the dedicated services of the Government functionaries.
The Minister called upon the stake holders of tourism industry to provide their whole hearted support to the Government for making Jammu and Kashmir hub of tourism activities. He said their suggestion for the purpose would be incorporated while formulating plans for holistic tourism promotion in the State, adding that in this regard the Government would provide all logical support to them.
The Minister exhorted upon Chief Executive Officers of Development Authorities to ensure time bound completion of all the works.
