Tourism trade bodies flay Finance Minister’s remarks

Srinagar, Aug 28: The valley tourism and trade bodies today flayed the remarks of State’s Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu wherein he allegedly portrayed Kashmir in “poor shape”.
In an emergency meeting called by Tourism Trade Bodies with president of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Inc), they expressed grave concern on the statement of Finance Minister made during Global Conclave yesterday.
“The FM in his statement has portrayed Kashmir tourism in a very poor shape especially expressing his view on the security concern of the state more particularly Kashmir,” a statement issued by KCCI Joint Secretary Faiz Bakshi read.
The KCCI statement further reads: “The sincere and personal efforts made by the Chief Minister and the Department of Tourism in promoting Kashmir Tourism is apprehended to get adversely impacted in  as a result of Finance Minister’s statement”.
The delegation of travel trade led by KCCI will soon meet the Chief Minister to express their concern with a request to put before his view to take necessary steps to which would highlight a factual position regarding safety and destination upbeat, the statement reads.
