Tourism Deptt issues rafting permits to boost adventure tourism in Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 24: In a push to promote adventure tourism, the Directorate of Tourism Jammu today distributed 14 commercial rafting permissions among tour operators at Baradari. Each operator has been allowed to operate two rafts for a period of two years.
Joint Director Tourism Jammu, Aijaz Qaiser, said the initiative is aimed at positioning Jammu as a hub of adventure and recreational tourism.
He stressed that rafting has the potential to strengthen the tourism ecosystem, create jobs, and boost the local economy, while urging operators to strictly follow safety protocols to ensure secure experiences for visitors.
Officials from the Tourism Department, including Deputy Director Savita Chouhan and Assistant Director Vishal Sadhotra, highlighted the importance of expanding the adventure tourism circuit alongside pilgrimage and leisure tourism.
President of the Rafting Association Baradari Reasi, Gurjeet Singh, thanked the department and expressed confidence that the step would help attract more adventure seekers.
The Tourism Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to diversifying tourism products, developing adventure infrastructure, and generating sustainable livelihood opportunities while showcasing Jammu’s natural beauty.
