RAJOURI, May 30: After alleged torture and harassment by her husband, a young pregnant woman committed sucide at her inlaws’ house in Darhal area of district Rajouri today.
The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Sobia Kouser, wife of Mohd Sajjad, resident of Thannamang. Wajid Hussain, brother of the deceased alleged that her sister was 5 months pregnant. Her husband used to torture her on petty issues. Hardly, few days back, the girl was sent to her inlaws’ house after meeting of the relatives on both sides. But last night again, she was beaten up. Due to torture, she has taken extreme step, he told police.
Sobia, after taking poison became serious and she was rushed to Darhal hospital and then referred to GMC Rajouri where she died. After postmortem, the dead body was handed over to the parents of the girl.
The police registered a case FIR No. 68/ 2021 against the accused persons and arrested husband and father-in-law, Talib Hussain, of the deceased. Further investigation was in progress.
