JAMMU, May 31: The irate residents of Toph Sherkhania staged a protest demonstration against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department over the prevailing water scarcity in the area.
The protestors including men and women with pitchers in their hands squatted on the road and protested against the PHE authorities for their failure in maintaining the water supply in the area despite the repeated pleas of the residents of the area.
The protestors said that from a pretty long time they have been facing the acute water scarcity but the authorities of the department have taken no pains in settling the problem. They said the problem has further aggravated after the temperature increased during over last one week.
They sought immediate intervention of PHE Minister and Chief Engineer PHE in the matter.
The protestors raising slogans against the Department warned to intensify the agitation in the area in case immediate steps were not taken to solve the problem.
