JAMMU, Dec 13: To counter the opposition parties especially Congress role against the electoral reforms and Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is launching nationwide campaign in this regard to put the facts before the people.
In this regard party held a virtual meeting today which was addressed by party national spokesperson, Pardeep Bhandari who joined the deliberations as a key resource person on the subject from Union Capital. Criticizing Congress and INDIA bloc he alleged that a false and misleading propaganda is being launched by it on electoral reforms and SIR.
Bhandari said BJP being the nation’s largest forum has not run away from debates and discussions on any issue while Congress always ran away from debates. Accusing Congress of never running away from debates when Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi were discussed but it is unfortunate that the moment when the issue of infiltrators was discussed the Congress walked out. Even the opposition boycotted the House 200 times. Bhandarri, while reiterating BJP’s and Government’s stand against infiltrators warned that party will not allow even a single infiltrator to get voting right.
Maintaining that infiltrators registration as voters is a grave threat to national security, Bhandari said that the voter list purification is essential to ensure that infiltrators can’t influence the election of the Prime Minister and Chief Minster and compromise national security and this purification process is itself called SIR, he added.
He made it clear that BJP’s policy on infiltrators is detect, delete, and deport. The opposition’s policy is to normalize the infiltrators, legitimize them and formalize then by adding them to the voter lists which his party is strongly opposed to.
Bhandari, while refuting all allegations made by Leader of Opposition, Rahuml Gandhi on bogus voters said Election Commission of India has also clarified the same by terming his statements totally wrong and misleading after projecting correct data. He said whenever Congress loses election it puts blame on EVMs and voter Chori when during last 11 years it failed to give any suggestion to Election Commission on poll reforms.
The meeting was attended by BJP State Office Bearers, party spokespersons, and other senior and prominent leaders.
Addressing the meeting, BJP president and MP (RS), Sat Sharma underlined that the BJP has always stood firmly for free, fair, and transparent elections, which form the backbone of India’s democracy. He said that Parliament is the highest forum for debate and discussion, and the BJP has never shied away from any issue, including electoral reforms. Sat Sharma emphasized that SIR is a constitutional and routine process entrusted to the Election Commission under Articles 324, 325, 326, and 327 of the Constitution, aimed at ensuring that only eligible Indian citizens are included in the voter list. He stated that by opposing SIR, the Congress and other opposition parties are, in effect, questioning the Constitution framed by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and weakening democratic institutions
Ashok Koul, while presenting the organizational blueprint, announced a structured series of programmes and meetings to be conducted at the district levels across Jammu and Kashmir. He said that awareness sessions, workshops for party workers, press interactions, and public outreach programmes would be organized to educate people about the constitutional validity and necessity of SIR. He stressed that party cadres would be equipped with factual material to counter misinformation being spread by the opposition and to take the message of electoral purity and national security to the grassroots.
