POONCH, May 22: A delegation of five Trinamool Congress (TMC) members visited Poonch today to meet the families who were affected in Pakistan shelling, to offer them condolences and to see the damages reported during heavy shelling by Pakistan.
An official said TMC members including- Derak O’ Brien (MP, Parliamentary Party Leader, Rajya Sabha), Mamta Thakur ( MP Rajya Sabha), Sagarika Ghose (Deputy Leader, Rajya Sabha), Manas Ranjan (Minister, GoWB), Mohd Nadimul Haque (Chief Whip Rajya Sabha) were in this delegation.
They along with Member Legislative Assembly, J&K, Ajaz Jan visited many affected areas in Poonch city, met with victim families and see the ground situation post Pakistan shelling on the residential area especially in the city where it had never witnessed by the people before. Talking to the media persons on the spot, a TMC leader said that they have seen the sufferings, grief and sorrow of the victim families and other people here, grief of those families whose close one attained martyrdom. “We still came here to know the situation, to tell each and every family here that you are not alone, the people of Bengal and whole country stand with you,” he added.
“Every life is precious, those killed in Pahalgam and also in Poonch. Civilians were targeted by the Pakistan. Innocent people who had nothing to do with the war; children, young people lost their lives. We are to let people know that India is with you and we are always there to help whatever required and will take up all issues in Parliament,” another MP said.
