DACHHAN, Jan 27: A fire broke out in compartment 18b/D, adjoining the villages of Tunder and Kharaipakhnoo in Dachhan last evening.
Upon receiving information, the forest personnel mobilized local villagers and Jaypee staff to join fire fighting efforts.
Around 30-35 individuals worked tirelessly through the challenging terrain and creating fire-lines to prevent the flames from spreading into the forested area.
Despite steep slopes and difficult conditions, their collective efforts successfully contained the fire.
Vishal Choudhary, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Marwah Forest Division, reported that the fire primarily affected un-commercial areas, with grasses and bushes being burnt and no trees were damaged as prompt response prevented the fire from escalating.
A handout stated that by early morning, the fire was brought under control with only some smoke lingering from the affected area.
DFO Marwah stated that strict action will be taken against anti-social elements and miscreants involved in such incidents and an FIR will also be lodged to ensure accountability.
The Marwah Forest Division has urged all citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that may pose a risk to the region’s precious forests.
