KATRA, July 2: Police Post Kakryal today foiled an attempt to smuggle timber and seized the consignment along with the truck, in which it was being smuggled..
During routine checking at Police Check Point (PCP) Sool, one truck bearing registration number PB03BD-1911 was intercepted by the alert police team. Upon thorough inspection, the vehicle was found loaded with timber wood logs.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the timber was being transported without any valid documentation and permission. The driver of the truck was identified as Vikas Kumar son of Ram Nivas, resident of village & Tehsil Jalalabad, District Fazilka (Punjab).
The vehicle along with the illegal timber consignment was seized on the spot and handed over to the Forest Department Katra for further legal proceedings under the Forest Act.
