HANDWARA, Aug 28: One individual was arrested for smuggling Deodar wood in Handwara town of Kupwara district today.
During routine checking at Yahama in Qalamabad area, a team of Handwara Police, along with Forest Department officials, intercepted a vehicle for checking, a police official said.
On search of the vehicle, he said, 7 logs of illegally-cut Deodar wood were recovered.
Accordingly, the driver of the vehicle was arrested and booked under the relevant sections of the law registered at Qalamabad Police Station and further investigation taken up, he said.
