Thusoo’s Urdu version of Shrimad Bhagavad Maha Purana hits stands

Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Dec 8: Urdu translation version of Shrimad Bhagavad Maha Purana translated by Makhan Lal Thusoo has hit the stands today. The voluminous book comprises of 650 pages with a beautiful title cover. The book consists of 12 main (Skinds) chapters. The writer has introduced the book with a simple but impressive foreword giving brief information about the Bhagavad Maha Purana in simple Urdu for readers of modern Indian language. Thusoo said “There was a dire need for the simple translation of the sacred book which has been fulfilled by me''. Earlier, Thusoo has translated Ramayana in Urdu language and that book was highly acclaimed by the readers and was in great demand. He added another feather to his cap by translating Bhagavad Maha Purana in Urdu for the readers and it is his second contribution to Urdu language and readers. Scholars while commenting on the book said his translation shall convey a great message of the holy granths (religious scriptures) to the world community. They said it is a great contribution of Thusoo to the society as the people who could not read the Bhagavad Maha Purana in Hindi or Sanskrit can now easily read its Urdu version. They highly acclaimed the work and said the language has been lucid and easy to understand as the translator tried to use simple words which could be easily understandable to a common man. Thusoo who is a senior advocate by profession is also social activist and convener of Kashmiri Hindu Conference (KHC) an organization of displaced Pandits.
