SRINAGAR, May 29: Thundershowers and gale were recorded in parts of Kashmir bringing relief from heat wave in the Valley.

The gale started from North Kashmir this evening and travelled towards Srinagar and is now reported from South Kashmir.
The gale was followed by rains in North Kashmir and Central Kashmir bringing down the temperatures across the region.
Earlier, the Meteorological Department forecasted brief spell of rain and thundershowers at isolated places of Jammu and Kashmir on May 29, and stated a possibility of light to moderate rain and thundershower at many places accompanied with intense showers with gusty winds at few places between May 30 and 31.
An official said that there was a possibility of brief spell of rain and thundershowers at isolated places on May 28 (late afternoon) and 29.
He said there is a possibility of spell of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places accompanied with intense showers with gusty winds likely at few places in J&K from May 30-31. ‘There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rain, thunder and gusty winds at scattered places during May 30-31,” he said.
The official continued that from June 1-3 the isolated places of Jammu and Kashmir are likely to receive brief spell of light rain and thundershowers.
