Three smugglers held, 30 bovines rescued

UDHAMPUR, Apr 22: Police here today under the overall supervision of SSP Udhampur, Dr. Vinod Kumar arrested three bovines smugglers and seized two vehicles besides rescuing 30 bovines which were being smuggled.
Police team led by SHO Police Station Chenani Inspector, Charanjeet Singh under the supervision of SDPO Chenani, Ahmed Shaafi at Chenani naka checked a vehicle carrying bovines without any valid permission and 22 bovine animals were rescued while two smugglers Abdul Rehman son of Ghulam Mohd. of Magarkote, Ramban and Shoket Ahmed son of Nek Alam of Douru, Anantnag were arrested.
In this regard a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation is going on.
In another incident, during the wee hours, police party of Police Station Majalta intercepted one dumper bearing registration no. JK19-7278 and rescued eight bovines at Battal Morh, Majalta which were being smuggled towards valley.
In this regard, a case U/S 188 IPC, 11PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Majalta.
The vehicle involved was seized and smuggler Imtiaz Ali son of Parvaiz Ahmed of Pahalgam, District Anantnag was arrested.
