JAMMU, Feb 26: Police has arrested three drug peddlers and apprehended a juvenile in separate actions across Miran Sahib, Kanachak and Bahu Fort areas, recovering more than 22 grams of heroin-like substance.
In Miran Sahib, a police team led by SHO Inspector Jatinder Singh apprehended a juvenile during naka checking near Canal Ring Road on February 25. The accused, a resident of Satwari, attempted to flee after spotting the police party approaching from Bishnah.
During his personal search, 7.71 grams of heroin (chitta) wrapped in a polythene was recovered. An FIR Number 32/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered and investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages.
In another operation, a police party from BPP Gajansoo of Police Station Kanachak, while on routine patrolling on February 26, apprehended a notorious drug peddler identified as Tara Chand, son of Jagan Nath, a resident of Dhyateral, on the Gajansoo road towards Chinore Farms.
Approximately 8.03 grams of heroin-like substance along with a weighing machine, foil paper, lighters and a pair of scissors were recovered from his possession. In this regard, FIR Number 26/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kanachak.
Meanwhile, a police team from Police Post Narwal intercepted two drug peddlers in Narwal Yard during routine patrolling. The accused were identified as Rahul Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar, and Rohit Kumar, son of Nand Lal, both residents of Rajiv Nagar, Narwal.
During their search, around 7 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered. An FIR Number 54/2026 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act has been registered and further investigation is in progress.
Police said all the contraband has been seized and efforts are on to dismantle the drug supply network.
