SOPORE, May 27 : Jammu and Kashmir police in North Kashmir’s Sopore today booked three drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS).
The trio had been persistently involved in drug peddling despite multiple FIRs and arrests, posing a serious threat to public health and safety.
According to police spokesperson, the three chronic narcotics offenders namely Bilal Ahmad Lone, S/o Abdul Rashid Lone, R/o Lorihama Rafiabad, Jameel Ahmad Dar, S/o Ghulam Mohammad Dar, R/o Saripara Rafiabad and Mohammad Altaf Dar, S/o Ghulam Qadir Dar, R/o Mumkakh Batpora Sopore, had developed a consistent pattern of narcotics trafficking and continued their activities despite repeated legal action.
After detailed dossier preparation and confirmation by the competent authority, all three have been detained under the stringent provisions of the PIT NDPS Act to prevent further harm to the society.
The action as per spokesperson reflects J&K Police’s zero-tolerance policy toward drug trafficking and its firm resolve to break the supply chain of narcotics.
