Three drug peddlers arrested with narcotics

JAMMU, May 29: Three drug peddlers have been arrested along with narcotics.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka at T Chowk and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AN-4511.
During checking, police team recovered 8.50 quintals of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Harjinder Singh, son of Avtar Chand, a resident of tehsil Phillour, district Jalandhar, Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 69/19 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Aejaz Ahmed Wani made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajjad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Station led by SHO SI Nayat Ali under the supervision of SDPO City Jaswant Singh while on patrol duty at Neel Top Hotel Gujjar Nagar apprehended a drug peddler along with 5 grams of heroin.
The accused has been identified as 36/19 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Peer Mitha and investigation started.
In another incident, the sleuths of District Special Branch and Police Station Channi Himmat led by ASI Abdul Khaliq intercepted a person who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 3.75 kilograms of ganja from the possession of the person and arrested him.
The arrested person has been identified as Dharama Behera, son of Maharagi Behera of Orissa.
A case under FIR Number 75/19 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Channi Himmat and investigation started.
