Three-day workshop on development of locally contextualized TLM concludes

JAMMU, Jan 16: The 3-day workshop on development of locally contextualized Teaching and Learning Material (TLM), organized by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Divisional Office Jammu, concluded today.
The programme engaged 50 participants across all 10 districts of Jammu division so as to support teachers in moving away from rote learning towards activity-based and experiential learning, as envisioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The workshop commenced with the lighting of ceremonial lamp. Welcome address was presented by Manu Vasudeva. The concept note of the workshop was dispensed briefly by Shazia Kousar (coordinator).
Dr Sanjeevani, Head, Department of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), focussed on the primary aim of the workshop to create low-cost, no cost, eco-friendly and locally available materials that cater to the diverse learning needs of young children while Vinod Kumar Bhat, Head AU-II, stressed upon the importance of TLM in early childhood learning.
Director of School Education, Jammu, and Director of SCERT J&K, Dr Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, graced the workshop with his presence. During his interaction with the participants, he provided strategic direction and urged them to concentrate their efforts on empowering the pre-primary wing under the ECCE framework.
Earlier, during the inaugural session, Dr Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director of SCERT J&K, Jammu Division, highlighted the critical importance of locally contextualized Teaching-Learning Material (TLM).
The sessions included interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and group work, enabling participants to collaboratively design innovative and low-cost teaching learning materials using locally available resources.
During the workshop, the resource persons including Jasvinder Kour, Kamini Verma, Monika Dogra, Shazia Kousar, Neeraj Jamwal, and Meena Thakur deliberated theme based TLM like Transport, Environment, Me and Myself and Plants.
The smooth conduct of the programme was ensured through the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee members including Dr Bhuvi, Arsh Kour, Sonika Devi and Al-Sana.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory session featuring presentations and the distribution of certificates among the participants.
