Three-day TDS outreach programme begins

JAMMU, Feb 27: The Northern Zonal Accountancy Training Institute (NZATI), in collaboration with the Income Tax Department, today started a three-day outreach programme on Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) provisions in Jammu.
A statement said the programme aimed at strengthening statutory compliance, promote clarity in procedures and enhance the capacity of Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) in handling TDS-related matters.
The inaugural session was held under the supervision of Rajesh Talwar, Director Finance and Principal, NZATI.
On the first day, Rajneesh Kumar Gupta, Income Tax Officer, delivered a technical session explaining the legal framework of TDS, procedures for deduction and timely deposit, filing of returns, reconciliation process and consequences of non-compliance.
DDOs from across Jammu district attended the session, including officers from the Education Department, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, Health Department, Handicrafts and Handloom Department, Information Department and Public Works Department, among others.
The programme will cover fresh batches of DDOs over the next two days to ensure wider participation and better understanding of TDS compliance across departments.
