JAMMU, Oct 11: In a move aimed at maintaining public order and ensuring smooth traffic flow, a local court in Jammu convicted three individuals for obstructing the road and creating nuisance at Maheshpura Chowk in the Bakshi Nagar area.
Officials said the accused – Nadeem, Bilal, and Fejan- were detained by Incharge Police Post GMC Jammu, PSI Tanvinder Singh, for blocking the road with their fruit carts, leading to traffic jams. They were later booked under Section 34 of the Police Act, they said.
“The court sentenced them to five days of community service,” officials said.
As part of the sentence, they said, the convicted individuals will perform cleaning duties at Government Medical College Jammu from 10 AM to 4:30 PM daily.
The action by the police and the court has been widely appreciated by the public, who expressed hope that such measures will help maintain discipline, cleanliness, and smooth traffic movement in the city.
