Three arrested for aerial firing at wedding

JAMMU, Apr 21: Police in Gharota have arrested three individuals for allegedly resorting to aerial firing during a wedding function in the area during the intervening night of April 20-21.
The incident, which took place at a palace in Gharota, caused panic among attendees and posed a serious threat to public safety. Prompt action was taken after a video of the firing surfaced on social media. Gharota Police, under the supervision of SHO Inspector Sunil Sharma, swiftly registered an FIR and launched an investigation using technical surveillance and human intelligence.
The accused – Mohan Singh of Marjali, Santokh Singh of Rati Chappri Barn, and Bahadur Singh of Bomal (Tehsil Akhnoor) – were traced and arrested. Police said the trio had fired multiple rounds from a pistol and a revolver, both of which have been recovered and seized.
Authorities have reiterated their zero-tolerance policy toward such reckless behavior and urged the public to refrain from acts that endanger lives.
