Threat call to Shia Wafq board chairman

LUCKNOW: Controversial Shia Central Waqf Board Chairman Waseem Rizvi, who  had recently urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ban all Madarsas due it’s terror link has now alleged threat on his life from dreaded don Dawood Ibrahim.
Mr Rizvi has already been in news for his support for Ram Temple at Ayodhya and his support to the BJP government on Triple Talaq, had gone ahead in demanding ban on Madarsas alleging it’s link with terror organisations.
However, a Muslim cleric has severed Mr Rizvi a legal notice on his allegation with Rs 10 crore as defamation.
But late on Saturday night Mr Rizvi lodged a FIR at Sahadatganj police station in old Lucknow city alleging receiving a threatening call from Nepal.
“A person from Nepal called me on my mobile phone at around 2230 hrs, informing me that Dawood Ibrahim was annoyed with me and I should immediately tender apology to the clerics and maulanas for my statement on Madarsas,” Mr Rizvi said in his complaint to police.
Mr Rizvi further claimed that the person also threatened me that my entire family would be killed in a blast if I refuse to apologise to the clerics.He also said that he has the recording of the threat call.
Talking on Sunday morning Mr Rizvi said senior police officials have been informed about the incident.
Police said that after lodging the FIR under section 507 of the IPC they are investigating the case. (agencies)
