Srinagar, Mar 23: The Bhartiya Janata Party’s (BJP) J&K unit today said that those who were in power in the 1990s were responsible for the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley and that there is a need for fixing the responsibility.
Ashok Koul, the party’s General Secretary, Organization, while talking to media persons here said that the atrocities on Kashmiri Pandits had started long back and those who were in power are responsible for it.
“Those who were in power then are trying to say that they had no control over it. That’s illogical; they are responsible for the incidents that happened and they cannot run away from it,” Koul said.
He said as has been demanded by Dr Farooq Abdullah, the Kashmiri Pandit leaders have also been demanding a white paper and setting up of an inquiry commission to probe into the matter.
“There has to be an inquiry into the matter and those responsible should be brought to book. Whatever is happening now is all because of what happened in 1987 and that was all in their hands and they did it,” he said.
Ashish Sood, Seh Prabhari of BJP J&K who was also present on the occasion said that the preparations for the elections in J&K have begun and several people leaving behind the fake narrative are joining the BJP
He said that Kashmiri Muslims as well Pandits want to live peacefully, “but those who have been raking up Pakistan-bogey are responsible for not letting that happen in Kashmir,” he said.
