Thieves target two shops in Samba

Samba, May 25: A wave of concern has gripped residents of Samba after two separate thefts were reported late Saturday night.
Unidentified thieves broke into two shops, one a tea stall and the other a grocery store, stealing cash and goods worth several thousand rupees.
According to initial reports, both shops were found ransacked on Sunday morning when the owners arrived to open them.
The locks of the shutters had been broken, shocking the shopkeepers who immediately alerted the local police.
The first theft took place at a tea shop owned by Rakesh Kumar, located in front of Bhargava Degree College. The culprits stole cash and other items from the premises.
The second incident occurred at a grocery store run by Himanshu Raina in the Chak Manga area of Samba. The thieves made away with cash, cigarettes, and food items worth approximately Rs 3,000-Rs4,000.
Significantly, a CCTV camera installed at one of the shops captured the entire incident.
The footage shows a clear image of the suspect’s face, offering a crucial lead for the investigation.
Police have registered a case and launched a thorough investigation.
